The vast majority of people who use smartphones are undoubtedly content with 256 gigabytes of storage, as well as many manage just fine with less. However, there are rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in a 2TB model, which would make it truly worthy of the Ultra moniker.
This is due to a posting that the reliable leaker @Tech_Reve made on X (previously Twitter), and if it is accurate, that would mean twice as much space as you are able to obtain alongside the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra as well as iPhone 14 Pro Max, while it would be on par with the maximum capacity that is supposed to be available in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
That’s plenty of storage space, and it’s considerably more than we’d bet that a lot of people require, especially since cloud saving is quite inexpensive and, in some circumstances, completely free of charge. However, if you want to record days of 8K footage or simply wish to store a large media collection on your cell phone, then it might be handy to have this capability.
The same source states that in addition to its 128GB storage capacity, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is going to be available in a 256GB model that features 12GB of RAM. This is an increase from the eight gigabytes of RAM that the Galaxy S23 Ultra from Samsung has in its base configuration for storage space of this size.
It is intriguing that they also suggest that there might be a 128GB version that has 8GB of RAM, yet they don’t seem positive about that, and we’d be pleasantly surprised if there were one considering that the Galaxy S23 Ultra begins at 256GB. We are not confident that Samsung would choose this course of action since although lowering the storage space of the upcoming model would allow for lower entry-level pricing, it would also give the impression of a step in the wrong direction.
We have also heard in the past claimed the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is going to cost more than the Galaxy S23 Ultra; however, this seems more unlikely to be the situation if a 128GB version is released, which is yet another reason to mistrust this 128GB report. If a model with 128GB is offered, the price difference between the two phones will be less.
The remainder of this leak, however, is consistent with an increased cost, both a greater starting price owing to the rise in RAM that comes with a 256GB version and a greater peak price due to the fact that the storage capacity at the highest end will be doubled.
Therefore, if you haven’t begun saving money yet, you should probably get on that right away. However, there is a good chance that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be one of the greatest phones available when it is released early in 2024, so purchasing one might be at least somewhat worthwhile.
